Numerous different layers of textures & effects are added & manipulated to create a more subtle, painterly, sometimes ethereal quality to the image. The process can take many, many hours to achieve just the right combination of depth, colour & texture to add a new dimension which brings the original subject more alive but making it slightly abstract at the same time. THE ARTIST From a young age, with help from my Dad, I learned to draw. My Gran taught me to sew & crochet & my Mum taught me to knit & to follow my dreams. My school teachers encouraged me to apply to art college & my university tutors helped me to pursue a career in fashion. My first boss taught me what I needed to know to be a good designer & I taught myself how to draw using a computer - to be more efficient with design & colour changes to designs. Fast forward 20 years & I’m now a computer whizz when it comes to drawing & design. Sometimes I like to step away from the computer though & get messy & creative again so I like to dabble in screen printing, pottery & jewellery making too. For a while, I even taught screen printing courses at the West Yorkshire Print Workshop which was very rewarding & lots of fun. I happily take on custom & freelance work so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
