Serving dish/Platter designed by Kathie Winkle for James Broadhurst & Sons with a black & green design. in excellent condition it measures 28cm x 22cm. Lovely for serving or in a display. James Broadhurst & Sons were based at the Portland Pottery Works in Fenton, Stoke on Trent in the heart of the Potteries. Kathie Winkle went to work for the pottery in 1950. The technique Kathie used in her designs was often where a black line was printed on the unglazed piece by a rubber stamping machine & then the painters would add by hand the remainder of the pattern before it was glazed. Kathie began designing for the company in 1958. From 1964 her name appeared on the back of each piece, dating this piece which does not have her name from between 1958 & 1964. We believe that vintage/retro items are a sustainable way to reduce your carbon footprint while expressing your individual style. Passionate about history we love the idea of using something that has given pleasure to people before and, by so doing, allows us to contribute to a move away from a throw away society. For many of our items the listing includes a potted history of the manufacturer or a description of the process which we believe brings the piece to life.
