Antique Coral Scarabs, circa 1880, with handmade contemporary ear wires. These fabulous Scarab beetle coral earrings have been converted from a broken coral necklace dated to circa 1880, by adding a hand made gold ear wire, & small a Victorian coral ball. The coral is a soft pinky orange & beautifully carved. The scarab beetle was an Egyptian symbol & the Victorians used the symbol in their Egyptian revival period. This coral was most probably carved in Italy which was at that time a large centre for engraving of cameos, coral & other stone work including micro mosaic. These earrings will make an unusual birthday or anniversary gift (35 years). ERA: Victorian coral parts with contemporary handmade 9ct ear wires. APPROx.
